Emilia's Christening weekend

We went up to PA to celebrate Emilia's christening this weekend. We got to spend a lot of time with all of our family and friends. We are so fortunate to have all of these wonderful people in our lives. Aunt Lu and Uncle Mike are her godparents. Mammaw made her christening gown out of my wedding dress and it was soooooooo beautiful. Mammaw and Pappaw threw a great party (as always)!! What a wonderful weekend!

Aunt Vicki and Matt came up for the party. It was wonderful for Emilia to meet them and we can't wait to go stay with them at the shore this summer!!

Chatty Cathy!!

Emilia has been very chatty these past couple of days. She loves to talk while she playing and while she's getting her diaper changed!! She just started to hold on to the fish that Aunt JJ got for her, and it's her new favorite toy. She still needs to be propped in with blankets in her exersaucer and use a little step stool, but she's exploring more of the toys and spinning herself around.

Emilia's First Official Solid Feeding!!

For her first official solid feeding Emilia chose avocado accompanied by a breastmilk martini. She did really well! I had tried some banana on my finger earlier in the week, but she wasn't too interested. I gave her a little avocado on my finger the other day, and she was definitely more into it. Today daddy gave her a spoon feeding for the first time, and she did really well. I don't know if she liked the food or the bib better!

4 months old!!!

We went to the National Cherry Blossom festival with Jason and Teri on the 5th. The blooms were beautiful and it was a good thing that we got there since the rain and wind stripped the trees just a couple of days later. This shot is at the Tidal Basin and Emilia had such a great day riding in the sling!

She got a new hat to keep the sun out of her eyes while we are on a walk. I think it's so cute that I have her wear it all the time!!

Emilia's favorite thing to do is take a bath. She kicks so much that she's left with about half of the water in her tub by the end of bath time. When nothing else works a bath always makes her happy!

Lately she has been having a great time playing in her exersaucer. She's still too small to fit well so we have to prop her up with some blankets and give her a step stool but she's reaching for all of the toys and giggling at the star and dinosaur!

She's playing so much more these days and, as you can see, LJ stays close by. She's getting so much stronger and is very interested in her toys...mouthing everything she can get to her mouth!

Happy Easter!! Emilia had quite a pile of gifts and her very first Easter basket complete with rice cereal, sunglasses, and (symbolic) banana and avocado. We won't try solids for another couple of weeks...but what else do you put in a 4-month-old's Easter basket?

We skyped with everyone in PA while Emilia opened her presents...technology, WOW!!

LJ got a special basket with gourmet treats like puppy peanut butter cups and a yogurt-dipped chick. He'll be working on his Easter treats for a while.

This Easter was Emilia's first experience opening presents. She can pull tissue paper out of the bag and pull on the wrapping paper (with lots of help of course). The second video is LJ doing his annual Easter egg hunt (thanks to the Shoops for the great idea). He loves to hunt for eggs and Oscar just loves to follow him even though he has no idea what is going on!

16 Weeks Old

Emilia will be 16 weeks tomorrow. She's such a little lady! She gets stronger and more active everyday. She likes tummy time a little more all the time (yeah!!!). She's gotten strong enough to hold herself up when I carry her on my hip or take her for a walk in the sling. She notices LJ walking around the house more and smiles when he sniffs her head. We went to get family pictures taken and they turned out great. She was a very good girl for the pictures even though I had to wake her from her nap. Emilia and I went up to PA this past weekend while Brian went to visit a friend in Texas. We got to spend some quality time with Mammaw and Pappaw, Nanny and Pop, Aunt JJ, and Grammi, too!
