Baby Fish...The Sequel

Emilia is going to be a big sister!! We're expecting another baby in mid-November!! We're super excited and can't wait for another angel to grace us with it's presence! Having Emilia has been so amazing that we cannot even fathom how much joy a second baby will bring to our lives!! Just like with Emilia we will wait to find out the gender until delivery day! Hopefully I am blessed with another quick labor and delivery!!!

We had this ultrasound done at 6 weeks 5 days and the baby was measuring a little over 7 weeks.
Today we had our nuchal translucency ultrasound done. The baby is still measuring a couple of days ahead and was SUPER active. The ultrasound tech had a difficult time getting some measurements because it wouldn't hold still. The radiologist checked everything and said it looks great but we won't get the blood results back for about 8-10 days so that will give us a better picture of the health so far. The heart rate was 170 and we saw the arms, feet, face, brain, spine, nasal bone, etc!!

Here's a crown-to-rump measurement from the back.

Here is a great face picture. You can see the eyes really well...a little bit like an alien-but only for now!

Here's a great picture of the profile!!

Emilia cleaning

Emilia's new favorite thing to do is to help me with the cleaning. If I'm dusting she needs a Swiffer too. Whenever she sees the vacuum she wants to run it. She's so funny and she'll actually do a pretty good job when she's focused!! She also loves to help with the laundry...she'll put clothes from the washer into the dryer and hand me clothes out of the baskets to fold!! What a helper!!

Here she is vacuuming for me. If you listen closely you can hear her making some vacuum noises and then she walks over to push the button to retract the cord.

Some random Emilia stuff

I just felt like I needed to post some more pictures of Emilia. She's just so darn cute!!!

This is Emilia finishing her bowl of grapefruit sections. She realized that if she tipped up the bowl she could drink the juice just like a cup!

This is her just before she hit the links!

She loves playing with the shoes by the door. She's even trying to put her own shoes on now (in addition to everyone else's)..she's almost there!

Here she is carrying her absolutely favorite toy lately. This is Violet. Mammaw and Pappaw got it for her for Christmas this year. It's programmed to incorporate her name and favorite things into it's repertoire of sayings. For example, "Me and my friend, Emilia..." Violet comes EVERYWHERE with us!

more kitchen...

We are making some progress on the kitchen front. Brian has installed the new upper and lower cabinets. He has also built the drawer for lower cabinet and the plate rack for the upper....which he still needs to install. He's still working on the upper cabinet wine rack. In the meantime we are finishing the drywall, staining the installed cabinets, and getting ready for paint.

However, the best part is the trash/recycling drawer. Who would have thought something so simple could make such a big difference?!?!

Happy Easter!!

I'm still not doing all that well at taking pictures. Hopefully, I get back into the swing of things soon! We had a fun Easter at the Fish house. Brian spent most of the day working on the kitchen and got quite a bit accomplished, too. He got the base cabinet built and temporarily installed among other things.

Emilia and I hung out with him outside while he worked, and she had a blast running around the yard. She thinks it's hysterical to throw the ball for LJ and watch him chase it!

For Easter Emilia got a new wagon. It has seats that fold up complete with seatbelts! She thinks it's the best and LOVES riding in it around the neighborhood.

She also got some other fun stuff in her Easter basket including bathtub markers, a new toy for the fridge, two new pairs of shoes (one from LuLu), and a great big box of sidewalk chalk.

It's been crazy hot here for about the past week so we've been busy finding some stuff to do. We've been playing outside in the morning before it gets too hot. Once Mother Nature remembers what season it is we may get back to the playground, but for the time being we've been going to storytime and finding some other indoor activities to keep us busy. We certainly are not complaining...I'll take this weather over cold and snow any day! We're going to a Rocknoceros concert at the mall tomorrow which Emilia will love!

it's been a while

I have not been very good at keeping everything updated lately...shame on me! We're moving forward on the kitchen but have run into some road blocks (the tile that we need was discontinued 2 years ago and we cannot find it anywhere). Here are a couple of pictures of Emilia playing at the park a couple of weeks ago. I haven't taken many pictures lately, which I just realized as I was looking through the folder for this post. I'll take some this weekend since it's Easter but these will have to do for now.
Here is one of Emilia enjoying some leisurely reading using LJ as her pillow. She LOVES him!
These are from a while ago when we went to look at some property. Emilia will go absolutely anywhere in that backpack. It's so comfy and she thinks that she's the "bees' knees" in it!

Kitchen Renovation

Yes, Brian and I have undertaken yet another household project. We are expanding the kitchen (into existing space)! Here is what it looked like before.

We started a couple of weekends ago by moving the upper cabinets to a new bulkhead and taking out the old bulkhead. We added some recessed lighting to the new bulkhead which looks amazing and adds so much extra light to the kitchen.

Then last night we moved the lower cabinets and counter out to their new position under the cabinets.

This weekend Brian will build new upper and lower cabinets and a new butcher block countertop in the new space next to the stove!
